Chicago White Sox player Gordon Beckham and his family understand the challenges of Parkinson’s firsthand: his grandfather has been living with the disease for nearly a decade. Gordon is committed to ending the suffering caused by Parkinson’s and hopes to utilize his platform as a major league baseball player to raise awareness and funds to fight this disease.
A native of Atlanta, GA and adopted son of Chicago, IL, 25 year old Gordon Beckham plays second base for the Chicago White Sox.
Gordon launched Out of the Park for Parkinson’s in 2010 to raise awareness and support to help end Parkinson’s disease. For every home run Gordon hits during the 2011 season, a donation will be made to the National Parkinson Foundation. All proceeds benefit the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF), a non-profit organization that funds research, education and outreach programs to improve the lives of people with Parkinson’s.
